Help get me a hobby!

Hey y'all, I'm a widower and just getting back out and about again. Would be great to get some recommendations for activities to meet folks and maybe get me a bit fitter. I'm in good physical shape, just my brain that lets me down sometimes! Would be great to hear what y'all do yourselves, thanks very much!

Hi John, that must be a tough, well done getting back out and about!

Might I recommend lawn bowls? My Husband used to play and he loved it. He met a lot of friends and certainly kept fit. It seems quite simple to get started too. Enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time Linda! Hadn't thought of Lawn Bowls, could be an option for sure! Will see if there's a local club

Hi John, also a widower so know what you're going through. I'm a big fan of spin classes, a great way to meet folks and keep fit. Plus there's coaching and advice to get help you get in shape. I'm sure your local health club would offer something like this, give it a try and let me know what you think!

Thanks Mitch, another great suggestion! I've recently joined a local health club so I will see if it's something they offer! Is it very physically demanding?

Yes, definitely one to look into John, not too tough on the old body but you sure do feel like you've had a work out. Enough for once a week definitely! I've got a bad back, but find the movements I can manage without too much discomfort

I started doing yoga regularly last eyar, taking classes at my local senior centre and I have become a raving enthusiast. It is perfect relaxation and exercise and I'm convinced it sharpens my brain (I'm living with memory problems). Happy to share some tips if anyone else is interested?

Hi all, I'm really making an effort to get fit after retiring from work recently. I spent years just sitting at my desk 5 days a week!!! I'm trying to start running, but I find it leaves me aching for days in my legs even after a short jog. Is this normal? Am I just unfit?

Hi MindMate users, Do any of you use an activity tracker? If so I have a few questions: Do you find it useful? Is it god for day-to-day use or more for elite sportspeople? Are they easy to set up and use? What's the best brand? My nephew recommended I get one. Would appreciate any recommendations or advice! Thanks, L
